Participation of the URUNANI Africa Network in the Young Leaders Forum on the Social and Solidarity Economy in Yamoussoukro
The URUNANI Africa Network took part in the Young Leaders Forum on the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE), held from October 29 to 31, 2024, in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.
Organized under the theme “Cooperative Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation: What Policies for the Sustainable Inclusion of Youth in Local Territories?”, the event brought together more than 400 SSE stakeholders from three continents.

The delegation of the URUNANI Africa Network was represented by three focal points:

Hamado Simpore, focal point for Burkina Faso

Madrick Tonakambio, focal point for Ivory Coast and General Commissioner

Axence Monafi, focal point for the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Republic of the Congo
Their active participation helped showcase the initiatives of the URUNANI Africa Network while strengthening exchanges with other SSE actors attending the forum. They contributed to discussions on public policies that support youth inclusion within local territories and shared the network’s experiences and best practices in the field of the Social and Solidarity Economy. The focal points from Burkina Faso and the Republic of the Congo also serve as national SSE focal points in their respective countries.
Key Highlights of the Network’s Participation

Strengthening partnerships : The presence of the network’s representatives created opportunities to establish strategic connections with key SSE stakeholders, including technical and institutional partners, with the aim of supporting and expanding the network’s initiatives to other countries.

Sharing experiences: The focal points highlighted the projects and actions led by the URUNANI Africa Network, particularly in the field of ECMS, contributing to rich exchanges during workshops and roundtable discussions.

Commitment for the future: The URUNANI Africa Network reaffirmed its commitment to continuing its involvement in SSE initiatives, especially through its support program for young social entrepreneurs, which was one of the forum’s central themes.

This forum also provided an opportunity for the URUNANI Africa Network to reaffirm its role as a key actor in the Social and Solidarity Economy in Africa by promoting its core values of solidarity, cooperation, and social innovation. The participation of its representatives helped strengthen the network’s visibility and laid the foundation for future collaborations aimed at sustainable and inclusive development across the continent.
