Participation of the Network in the 6th Edition of the ECSI Camp
Looking Back at the ECSI Camp 2026 – Sterna Africa, Agoué (Benin)
The Urunani Network took part in the 6th edition of the ECSI Camp organized by our member organization Sterna Africa in Agoué, Benin. Several days of immersion, learning, and meaningful encounters that once again confirmed the vitality of Global Citizenship and Solidarity Education across the continent.
What we experienced together:
From the very first day, the tone was set: a film screening and discussion on the challenges of our time, exchanges on education as a tool for social transformation, and a practical workshop on the dangers of plastic pollution. It was a powerful opening that immediately grounded the camp in the realities we all share.
The following days combined digital citizenship, artificial intelligence, and civic engagement, with remarkable contributions from the NGOs CEDAS, ECOSYSTEM, and WOLSI (member organizations of the Urunani Africa Network). They brought dynamic and practical approaches on how AI can support social struggles and on issues related to gender equality. Tools, methods, and concrete ideas exactly what our organizations need today.
The penultimate day reminded us why we do this work: a powerful session on Pan-Africanism, an exploration of free and open digital alternatives to the dominance of major tech platforms, and role-playing activities centered around historical figures who shaped our collective history: Kwame Nkrumah, Thomas Sankara, Patrice Lumumba… Inspiring the present through the lessons of the past in order to build a freer future. A message that deeply resonates with the values of the Urunani Network.
Why this camp matters to us:
The ECSI Camp perfectly embodies what the Urunani Network stands for: spaces of popular education rooted in African realities, driven by an engaged, curious, and action-oriented youth. Seeing young people in Benin embrace these issues with such energy and commitment is both a source of pride and motivation for the entire network.
